Legacy - The GMC saves the day
New Zealand was in a dire position after WW2.
Most of our trucks where still overseas, having been succonded to the military in those dark days.
However, there was a large, very battered fleet of GMC trucks, mainly 6×6 drive and equipped with 10,000lb winches sitting on our shores that were meant to be repaired and sent back into action.
These trucks assumed an importance far in excess of their appearance.
They put New Zealand back on its feet post -war and their contribution has been all but forgotten…
