Looking Back - Burnetts
Bob Burnett who built up Burnett Motors of Ashburton, was a force of nature, and he was legendary for his vision and drive.
He was heavily involved in the big projects of the day, and the moving of a fully dressed D10 Cat over Deadmans Point bridge was a case in point. It required special permission and equipment in the form of a R-series Mack and trailing equipment, but they pulled it off.
Same said for the Kenworth moving equipment over the Wilmot Pass for the West Arm Project.
