This 1933 International D1 was the first old truck acquired by Bill Richardson in 1967. It is the same model as a truck owned by Bill's grandfather, Robert Richardson. The D1 model was actually built by the Willys-Overland Company of Toledo, Ohio for International Harvester who wished to have a light, reasonably good performing little truck to market alongside their heavier models. D1 models were offered in 1933 and 1934 and would become the C1 model in 1935 with more modern streamlined styling. Willys-Overland had been placed in receivership and IHC was able to buy the chassis and engine tooling from the receivers.

Aerial shot of the Labour weekend Saturday run participants at the Ryal Bush Transport yard. The rally was extremely well supported with a large contingent of North Island truck enthusiasts attending. The support given to the rally showed the esteem that the late Bill Richardson was held in by the old truck community.

The ex-Southland Excavating Detroit Diesel 8V92TA powered1980 Kenworth W924AR. At the time this truck was owned by Steve Murphy from Kaiapoi. In its former red and white livery, this truck was a well-known sight around Southland on heavy haulage duties. With its big Detroit V8, 20 speed Spicer 1420 gearbox and heavy weight backend it was a very capable heavy hauler.

Clive Taylor with his 1954 Mack B41X. Clive imported this truck from the U.S.A. in the 1990s. It is quite a rare model as it has the older type Mack-Lanova END510 indirect injection diesel engine. There were only 220 B41 models built in 1953 and 1954. The introduction of the B series trucks in 1953 coincided with the release of Mack's new Thermodyne direct injection diesels. Although most diesel powered B models had the new Themodyne diesels there were some models powered by the earlier Lanova type engines.
