Looking back - Frank Benson Cable-Price 1953-56
Frank Benson worked for Cable-Price for many years supplying and delivering construction equipment around the North Island.
He was an enthusiastic photographer and amidst the plethora of equipment photos are shots of transporters delivering equipment, or shots of some of the brands that Cable-Price were responsible for in the fifties, such as White.

The big 4 wheel drive pivot steer tractor is a Wagner-probably a TR9 model with 4 cylinder Cummins diesel. Wagner Tractor Inc. of Portland, Oregon built their first 4WD agricultural tractor in 1954. In 1961 the tractor division of Wagner was sold to the FWD Corporation of Clintonville, Wisconsin, becoming FWD Wagner. The last Wagner tractors were built in the late 1960s and carried John Deere branding and colours as the result of a short-lived marketing deal. I would think this tractor would have towed a Carryall type scraper or a roller on construction jobs. I have never seen any evidence of Wagner tractors in N.Z. apart from these pictures. Just another one of the many agencies held by Cable Price over the years.
