Nissan TW series

The TW 50V8 Nissan Diesels were a well-regarded truck and a handsome one at that and proved very popular in Southland and Otago.

It proved durable, easy to drive and could hold it’s head high when working along side it’s North American stable mates.

Seen here hauling fert to a dump high in the Hokanui Hills behind Gore is ‘Grumpy’ in the early eighties – a well known example of Nissan’s V8 TW series which worked under Alister Ross Ltd’s colours, in Gore for a couple of decades.

Driven firstly by Donald Ross, and then by Kevin McIntosh for many years, the truck featured a tag-axle in the days when companies were experimenting with what worked, and what they could get away with combination-wise with after the industry deregulated.

If you have any further information on the truck or model, we are happy to add it to this page.
