Mogal

A slice of history when Mogal were a big name in heavy haulage, with this R-series Mack and International teaming up to move a transformer out of Lyttelton and over Evans Pass into Sumner at Christchurch.

Dave Skoda Ching believes that Neil Rotch was the original driver of this Mack R797RSX which was new to Burnetts Motors Ltd, of Ashburton, and was called in to drive it again for this load.

8×8 Fertiliser spreaders – Andrews Transport 1980s – the great experiment

The great experiment.

Southland is one of the most productive rural regions in the world, but requires a lot of superphosphate and lime to be so.

Enter Fred Andrews. He put both an MAN and Mercedes 8×8 spreaders to work, fitted them with duals up front, and triples on the rear and set them loose.

The economics weren’t there, but what a glorious experiment it was.

Alexandra Blossum Festival 2018

One of the longest standing festivals in New Zealand, the Alexandra Blossum Festival features a parade of floats, cars, bagpipers and trucks which are the highlight of the parade.

Shot in 2018, this gives a good taste of how important and appreciated trucks and truckers are in the small rural communities that are dependant on trucks for their very existance.
