New Zealand’s rural sector would grind to a halt within days without trucks to service their needs.

Aside from the obvious live stock haulage sector, farmers depend exclusively on the road transport industry to bring in the raw materials needed to operate their farms, and take away what they produce -be it wool, grain, livestock or vegetables.

Millions of tonnes of fertilizer are needed every year by the farming sector and rural transport is one of the most diverse sectors of the road transport industry.

During the course of day, a rural operator might be required to travel to cities, farms, ports and warehouses making for a diverse and interesting day behind the wheel.

Other drivers might spend weeks spraying or spreading fertilizer in remote backcountry blocks that few people ever get to see.

Every driver is different and will want different things from the job, and a career in driving gives a huge variety of choice about what you want to do and where your want to go to do it!
